McDonald's is adding some spice to its menu: Spicy Chicken McNuggets that is.
The spicy nuggets – breaded in a crispy tempura coating and spiced with cayenne and chili pepper – are returning to the fast-food chain for the first time since being available regionally in 2022.
Served with a sauce made with crushed red pepper, spicy chilis and garlic, the hot nuggets heated up menus starting Monday, Nov. 4, in participating markets including, but not limited to, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New York and more. They come in six-piece orders as well as orders of 10, 20 and 30.
The dish, which first landed on the fast-food chain's menu in September 2020 has been "a fan-favorite menu item," McDonald's said in a press release.
Spicy Chicken McNuggets, which made several limited time stints on the menu since 2020, were the first flavor McDonald's USA introduced to the McNugget since the product made its debut in 1983.

The limited-time menu addition comes as McDonald's seeks to rally after an E. coli outbreak tied to onions on Quarter Pounders sickened 90 people and resulted in one death. The company has also faced a slight dip in during the year.
Spicier nuggets has been a popular menu addition for competitors including KFC and Wendy's, which added them in April and June, respectively.
